I must be mad

I caught myself properly thinking and planning a star & hexie bed runner last night. Am I flipping mental?! I've just finished the big one and I want to do more hexes still?!
Based on this one and hand stitched again...

A bit about me

I know its an old concept and not very 2011, but I fancied sharing these with the world here :)

1. High heels or boots? Neither flat shoes most of the time (how can people wear heels, ow!)
2. What time did you get up this morning? 6:1, ergh
3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? Super 8
4. What is your favourite TV show? Most comedy shows, girly period dramas
5. What do you usually have for breakfast? A cup of tea during the week, but bacon sandwich some weekends
6. What food do you dislike? Some spicy Mexican or Indian food or anything overly greasy
7. What is your favourite CD at the moment? Foo Fighters – Rope (hidden rock chick)
8. Favourite Clothing? Jeans (good fitting ones) or a nice dress
9. Anywhere in the world on vacation? Italy or anywhere exotic
10. Are you an organized person? Most times at work, but less so at home…

The quite good, the slightly rubbish & the sleepy

Early this week I made this union jack scrappy clock:
It's literally some scraps wonder-webbed to a back piece, sewn over the top, cut, then glued to a nicely hacked piece of foam board and a clock mechanism. I think it looks quite good, just don't pick it up and look at the back!

I present to you: Mr Quilty!

The last stitch was sewn at 10 o’clock last night.!

Its only taken around 600 hours in 10 ½ months, nearly 940 hexies, around 100,500 stitches (!) but its FINISHED!

Monday 15 August 2011

Mr quilty is on the home stretch!

All the quilting is done.

The edges of the wadding and backing were carefully trimmed to the shape of the new hexie edge (with the help of a few late night TV sessions)
I’ve sewn all the edging hexies on to the main body, remembering to reverse them rather than add them to the main section, so I can fold them over to make the hexie binding a la badskirt.
I’ve made the corner flower and label (newly embroidered for the occasion, the one I did 2nd time round was much nicer using a small running stitch rather than a weird loop lazy daisy type stitch) and that’s been stitched on with the binding edging.
